Synopsis

August 1945, the Sino-Japanese War finally ended.

Taiwan-Japan medical doctor, Su Tai Ying, at the northeast battlefield, was seen as part of the Japanese troop and was nearly executed by firearms. Fortunately, by fate, he healed the injuries and saved the life of the army division chief commander (General) Jiang Jing Xing, and was released ... ...

Later, Jiang Wen daughter and mom followed Jiang Jing Xing and the army troop to Taiwan. Jiang Wen became a teacher in Taiwan and a collision of love sparks happened between her and Su Tai Ying, but at the side of Su Tai Ying is a girl called Xue Zi who has been in love with him for many years and who is about to be deported back to Japan after Japan’s defeat. With the heightening of love feelings between the two (Jiang Wen and Su Tai Ying), the current political situation comes in between the two and becomes another hurdle/ ditch. ...

In Taiwan, military commander (general) Jiang Jing Xing was being transferred from Taiwan back to Shanghai due to students rebellion, waiting for emergency order.

But disaster followed, Jiang Wen and her mother was caught in the middle of chaos and unrest, and was arrested several times and imprisoned. Su Tai Ying extended help to them, causing the Su household to be spurned/ rejected by fellow countrymen, and the household completely fall apart.... ... Su Tai Ying decided to elope with Jiang Wen, going away from the disturbing affairs of life ... ...

Not long after, news came around about his elder brother’s death in a strange land in Southeast Asia, and Su Tai Ying returned to his homeland Taiwan. At this time, Su’s mother wanted to arrange for Xue Zi (Japanese girl) to be transported out from danger via marriage, and forced Su Tai Ying to marry Xue Zi.

At this time, Jiang Wen’s mother, in order to stop Jiang Wen and Su Tai Ying from continuing their relationship, went back to Shanghai. Thus, a pair of lovers was forced apart due to political situation….

Back in Shanghai, Jiang Wen was already pregnant and unexpectedly heard the rumors that Su Tai Ying has become married to Xue Zi in Taiwan, and she attempted suicide. However, Jiang Wen daughter and mom were once again involved in war situation and was put under house arrest by distant relative Yan LeChang. Su Tai Ying with the help of orderly (medical assistant) Yuan Guang Ming, rescued Jiang mother and daughter who was under house arrest, but Yuan Guang Ming was seriously injured during the operation... ...

Everyone finally boarded the Pacific ship heading towards Taiwan, but unfortunately it hit a coal ship and sank ... ...
